I just watched the movie “Pay It Forward” again. I haven’t watched it in a long time but it reminds me how important loving others in this world, and showing kindness can change someone’s life and the lives around them. You don’t realize how one small gesture and improve someone’s day, or even year. And if we all follow the extrapolation, described by the little boy in the movie, this kindness can spread around the world.
The original term of “pay it forward” means that when are on the receiving end of a random good deed, that you repay that deed by spreading it to others instead of the original benefactor (the person who did it to you). This then spreads good to many other people rather just thanking the sole person who started it. It can then have a greater impact then one can ever imagine.
In a world of extravagance and excess, a lot of people are still missing one important thing: the time to think about others. I realize how limited the time we have in a day is, but earlier this year somehow dropped a five dollar bill on the ground and all I had to do was pick it up and run up to them and return it. Something that simple and not time consuming at all can spread into something amazing.
